Tentative MOA Agreement_4.2025

On April 16th, 2025, a Tentative Agreement between the State of New York and the New York State Police Investigators Association was reached.  On April 17th 2025, the Board of Directors voted to send the Tentative Agreement to the field for a ratification vote.  One of the Contract Committee’s main objectives in this round of negotiations was to improve the quality of life for Investigators and Senior Investigators.  We are confident that we furthered that goal by successfully negotiating an Agreement that substantially increases the total compensation for our members while also making improvements to the Backroom members schedule, and for those that still have Flex Time, limiting it to 2 hours per week prior to overtime.  This is something that NYSPIA has been trying to achieve for decades and it is now solidified.  Our Backroom members now have what is widely regarded as the best schedule in Division.  Our 8 hour members will now work or be credited with 2 hours of flex per week and will then earn overtime in that week.

 

By the end of the contract, an Upstate Investigator with six (6) years of service in the BCI and fifteen (15) years of service with the New York State Police will make $157,781.00 and an upstate Senior Investigator with six (6) years of service in the BCI and fifteen (15) years of service with the New York State Police will make $171,074.00.

 

Immediately upon ratification of the contract all NYSPIA bargaining unit members, subject to availability, will have access to a Class A uniform for funerals, ceremonies and other appropriate occasions.  This is an issue that NYSPIA has also been working on for decades.  There is no reason an Investigator or Senior Investigator should not be permitted to put on a uniform for funerals, parades and other ceremonies.  We all graduated from the same academy and now everyone will have the option to wear the uniform during these special events.

 

Over the next two weeks, members of the NYSPIA Contract Committee will travel to every Troop to answer questions about the Tentative Agreement.  A copy of the Agreement is posted, but below is an overview.
